The Daily YouTube: ‘D-Von, Get The Table!’

“Classy” Freddie Blassie is a legend in the wrestling business. He remains one of the greatest managers in wrestling history. This clip, from May 12, 2003, came only three weeks before his death at age 85 and is one of the cooler moments in Raw history, if I must say so myself.

A classic Jerry Lawler mark-out moment here.

The Daily YouTube: Cena, Angle Engage in Rap Battle

From 2003. This is truly a classic.

The Daily YouTube: Vince Spoofs MNF

I remember it well. It was November 2004 and the sports world was in a tussle from not only a “controversial” opening segment from Monday Night Football featuring Terrell Owens and a member of the cast of “Desperate Housewives” but also from a brawl between members of the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and the Detroit fans.

So our hero Vince McMahon stepped up and, with the help of Shelton Benjamin and Trish Stratus, did a little recreating, making for one of the more memorable Raw moments of 2004, and maybe ever.

TCS Tweets: WWE NXT 7/13/10

NXT was kinda-live Tuesday from Louisville, Ky. Per usual, quotes from Michael Cole are in quotes with no attribution. Things not in quotes are my thoughts.

Only 49 minutes until The Percy Watson Variety Hour commences.

Hmmm…should I watch The Percy Watson Variety Hour or this terrible ass All-Star Game?

Time to get Wild and Young, y’all!

“There he is, the Denny Crum of NXT, ready for Sunday night!”

YESSSSSSS. The basketball court at the U of Louisville is named after Denny Crum.

I’ve been to Freedom Hall, and I have no idea how WWE tapes TV there. Building is old as hell and just terrible all over.

“This could be a big opportunity for Miz and Riley, rolling on NXT.”

“That’s a patented Miz move, that running clothesline in the corner.”

“Aren’t you supposed to be on the Spa Day with LayCool today?”

“He learned that out of The Miz’s playbook, hence the reason The Miz is the Rick Pitino of NXT.” LOLOLOLOLOL

“Mark Henry gettin’ him some.”

The Daily YouTube: The Raw Bunch

Last night, it was inevitable that WWE would parody the Brady Bunch opening with former Brady Bunch star Florence Henderson (a/k/a Linda McMahon) as the guest host.

Well, they did it. After watching it again, I have concluded my favorite part is Regal looking at Doink like he’s the biggest moron in the world and Doink looking sad. In fact, Regal makes the entire thing.

Poor Zack Ryder.

TCS Tweets: Monday Night Raw 7/12/10

Raw was live Monday from Lexington, Ky. Per usual, quotes from Michael Cole are in quotes with no attribution. Things not in quotes are my thoughts. It was a wild night, as this is a large amount of tweets. Enjoy.

We’re only a few hours away from the longest running steroid-injected show in history! No, not Raw! The Home Run Derby is tonight!

We’re live for Raw!

Brady Bunch Mom is the host tonight. There’s gotta be a WWE-style Brady Bunch intro.

It will only be appropriate if Black Cena rises from the dead and comes through the ring and costs Cena the title Sunday.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Wade Barrett wear a T-shirt.

“Excuse me, gentlemen. I’ve received an e-mail. Excuse me.”

“And I quote:”

HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST SUCH A THING! RT @kellylynndobson: @ThingsColeSays perhaps tonight Orton will wear pants!

Gimmick infringement right here. RT @ExcuseMeWWE: did Michael Cole just say, “excuse me”?!?!

TCS Tweets: TNA Victory Road 2010

TNA Victory Road was live Sunday night from the Impact Zone in Orlando. Here’s the compilation of tweets for the night.

TNA! TNA! TNA! It’s Victory Road night here at TCS!!!

Says @OfficialTAZ on Love and Rayne’s entrances: “I used to just wipe my feet on the apron and get in the ring.”

Amazing how much better a women’s match is when it has heat.

Says @OfficialTAZ: “Good thing AJ’s wearing that robe because I think he just peed his pants!”

Woo! AJ and Joe in the same match!

Says @OfficialTAZ: “Air Samoa!”

That was a great match.

I am greatly enjoying this show so far.

My main event right here.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Says @OfficialTAZ: “(Flair) broke the mold, and that might be a good thing some hotel bars might say.”

VINTAGE FLAIR!

Says @OfficialTAZ: “I think Flair thought he was back in the ring with The Great Muta back in the day.”

Says @OfficialTAZ: “Sometimes in life you have to show your ass. … That poor guy there, he isn’t sleeping tonight.”

Awwww, @OfficialTAZ just buried the sports teams in my city. 😦

Hahahahahahaha. Taz making VINTAGE tap dancing references. I love this PPV.

Says @OfficialTAZ: “Well, here comes the Pope!” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Says @OfficialTAZ: “What are you trying to say, I got a big ass?”

TNA was good!

I’ve Got 3 Words For Ya: Buy Victory Road

OK, I know I completely buried our good friends over at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling the other day. One of my messages was to support the wrestlers, not the company. Today, you have that chance (although part of it technically involves supporting the company). Here’s how:

I am buying Victory Road. You should, too.

Now, it’s entirely possible that I’m just a huge mark for half the wrestlers on this show, but I am genuinely excited for this show. First, let’s take a look at the card:

This is a legitimately good wrestling show. I care about six of the nine matches on the show. That’s pretty damn good. And the main event isn’t one of the six!

Let’s start where I’m most excited: Ric Flair vs. Jay Lethal. This is a match that has been built over about a two month period with Lethal beating everybody in his path before Flair finally goes nuts and gets put in the match. This has been extremely well done. Have you seen their promo from Impact? If not, CLICK ON THIS LINK AND GET YOUR ASS TO YOUTUBE TO WATCH THIS SNIPPET. It RULED. I honestly don’t think anybody can tell me with a straight face that Ric Flair hasn’t ruled the Earth since coming to TNA. And Jay Lethal has been right there with him the last two months. I’m excited for the match because I think it’s going to have a lot of passion, and it’s going to be the biggest match of Lethal’s life. And each time Flair steps in the ring these days, it could be the last time. You just never know. And because he’s in the ring so infrequently, start savoring the flavor, kids.

The Daily YouTube: Ric Flair is Nutty Vol. 2

Realistically, I could probably use a Ric Flair clip each and every day here. I don’t want to do that because I want to give wide exposure to a variety of cool things. But this was just too good to pass up. Here in the Nature Boy in rare form in 1999 WCW. Enjoy.
